Grab a Stetson, dust off those cowboy boots and get those do-si-do moves at the ready – the Wild West is coming to Earl Shilton.
This year’s Picnic in the Park at Earl Shilton is taking on the wild west. Organisers of this annual themed event like to tie in with significant anniversaries and this year - in recognition of it being fifty years since the iconic movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid hit our screens - there will be a distinct Country and Western flavour to the celebrations at the Queen Elizabeth II Hall Field Park, Earl Shilton. This free event is on Sunday 9 June. (Small charges for some activities) The fun starts at high noon and continues till 5pm.
Live country and western singers will be appearing and the Ultimate Country Show will be bringing caller-led line dancing, barn dancing and hoe downs.
If dancing’s not your thing, maybe you’d like to challenge your friends to a shoot-out at the cork shooting gallery, or see how long you can stay on the rodeo bull. Maybe even try your hand at the cactus hoopla or horseshoe throw.
There will be plenty to entertain the children, including face painting.
Bring your own picnic, or buy refreshments from the on-site vendors. There will be a hog roast, jacket potato vendors as well as snacks and burgers. The Earl Shilton Constitutional Club are running a licenced bar in the Saloon. LOROS are providing hot drinks.
There will be plenty of seating and toilets on-site.
